HAF BUSINESS ADVISORY BOARD: Public Service
Provides clear insights, proven business tools, strategic execution, lead change, team-culture development, value and purpose-driven alignment, cohesive generational workforce fulfillment and other support systems as a public service.
HAF Business Advisory Board invites business executives and CEO (s) to attend monthly and or quarterly zoom meetings to apply the following.
HAF Board Advisors participating in each Advisory Meeting will include one to all three of the Board Advisors described in “Bio” below and will cover the business organization’s core fulfillment needs in finance, operations, HR and technology.

Bob Thomason
Director of IT
Bob has been a small business owner of over 40 years. Starting with his father in the Rent-To-Own industry. Later creating a software development company which embraced the internet as the need for websites began.
Bob has designed and supported a number of software applications for companies such as Funeral Homes, Government agencies, Medical offices, and Insurance companies. Many are still in use today.
He has designed over 100 websites since the beginning of the internet in the late 90’s for many national and international companies.

Alex Stratigakis
Design Engineer
Alex has spent over 25 years in product design, applications engineering, systems engineering, architecture in Networking Infrastructure ICs, data communications, Telecom, Video Architecture, Optical Networking, Voice Over IP, ISD Enterprise Architecture and he has also held senior managerial level positions.
He has also designed and successfully implemented six sigma methodologies on the platform level and process development. Participated in the globalization and management of technology (design centers) assets, mergers and acquisitions (technology evaluation), SWOT Analysis on platform and business unit level. He has developed the algorithms for integrated design and supply chain management.
He has furthered his research in developing models for Growth and Value creation for global technology companies, alignment of Human Capital with Strategic Corporate goals and sustainable financial performance of the Enterprise. Developed the infrastructure (Processes) for the standardization of Sustainable Internal Capital Markets across multiple business units and robust alignment of IT with the Business Architecture for mapping the Data strategy with the business strategy of technology companies. He is a Big Data Architect on the enterprise level as well as the Academic Industry.
He has worked for several High-Tech Companies from Bell Labs to Silicon Valley.
His current interests include Robotics, Integrated Design, predictive modeling, AI, Machine Learning, Smart-grid, Semiconductors, furthering the architecture for the sustainability of the Enterprise, bridging the GAP in skill creation between academia and industries for furthering the economic development of a region/nation. He is also an Inclusive Innovation Ecosystem Architect.
He is a member of Strategic Leadership Forum (Boston Chapter), Sigma Pi Sigma, Physics Honorary Society, Eta Kappa Nu, Electrical Engineering Honorary Society and IEEE Communications
He has co-authored a book “High Performance Enterprise”.

I. MISSION
The mission of both Board of Advisors:
- To provide education, training, tools, advice and support to HAF communities and business members.
- That advice and support will include guidance and assistance in strategic planning, development, and execution of local community fulfillment and academic internship opportunities for students.
- Both high school and college students will be introduced to mutually beneficial opportunities for student business and professional development within local communities.
II. MEMBERSHIP
HAF Board of Advisors “HAF Advisors”
HAF Board of Advisors Members will be persons who have established themselves as experienced and successful leaders in their fields of endeavor and who are committed to advancing local community and member fulfillment through education and practical daily training through on-site application of the HAF education. in the humanities and social sciences Characteristics of the successful Advisory Board member include the following.
- A demonstrated lifelong interest in learning and a solid commitment to the fulfillment of the HAF vision, mission and purpose.
- A commitment to service and shirt-sleeve participation.
- A commitment to the long term advancement and fulfillment of #1.
- An interest in and/or willingness to talk about and/or contribute to the financial needs of #1.
- A willingness to mix with people in member communities promoting from the perspective of recruiting students, educating state legislators, usage of the appropriate media, and interacting with other groups of influential people in their communities.
- The Advisory Boards’ composition will include 5 members from a variety of backgrounds and educational experiences.
- Membership will be comprised of at least 5 members,
- New members will be approved by HAF Board of Directors. Members will serve for a term of three years and which may be extended for additional terms at the mutual agreement of the board member, Membership and Governance Committee, the Board Chair and Founder term limits begin with the October 2022.
III. MEETINGS
The Advisory Board will meet at least three times each year, normally during the fall and spring semesters of the academic year and once in the summer. Meetings will be held at agreed times by online conference (Zoom), unless the Board elects to meet elsewhere. Special Board meetings may be called by the Chair of the Board for special purpose(s). A quorum will consist of a majority of all active members.
IV. RESPONSIBILITIES
Membership on the HAF Advisory Boards carries with it the following responsibilities:
- Attend Board meetings prepared to discuss agenda items.
- Participate in fundraising efforts on behalf of HAF, providing advice and counsel on how to increase effectiveness of the development program.
- Identify other top-level philanthropists and “open the door” for HAF leadership and development staff where and when appropriate.
- Work with members of the Board for the advancement of the HAF vision and missions. The Advisory Board will consider such matters as may be placed before it by the HAF Founder and or HAF Chair. These matters may include but are not limited to:
- Reviewing existing academic programs and assistance in identifying new technological areas that should be promoted and old areas that should be reduced in emphasis or eliminated.
- Serving as a sounding board for new ideas, activities or programs.
- Assisting in the formulation, structure, prioritization and fundraising for future development, endowment, and scholarship programs related to the HAF MISSIONS.
- Establishing professional relations program(s).
- Assisting in promoting professional relations between HAF and the local communities.
- Enhancing the HAF’s communications effort with the external public, and other supporting groups.
V. COMMITMENT
Board members will be asked to show their personal commitment to the success of HAF by maintaining a transparent engagement with HAF vision and mission
VI. OFFICERS
There will be a Chair and a Chair-Elect of the Board, elected from the Advisory Board to serve a two-year term commencing at the close of the fall meeting. After the two-year term the Board Chair becomes the Past Chair, the Chair-Elect assumes the Board Chair and the Board elects a Chair-Elect thereafter. Duties of the officers will be as follows:
- Board Chair
- Preside at meetings of the Advisory Board.
- Act as representative of the Advisory Board at any function where the Board requires representation.
- Appoint committees of the Board.
- Chair the Executive Committee of the Board.
- Chair-Elect
- Serve as Chair in the absence of the elected Board Chair.
- Succeed the Board Chair to fill out an unexpired term in the event that the Board Chair resigns, or is otherwise removed from office by any reason.
- Chair the Marketing and Capital Development committee.
- Past Chair
- Provide liaison between the Board and other support groups of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Chair the Governance and Membership Committee.
VII. STANDING COMMITTEES
There will be four standing Committees of the Board. These will include an Executive Committee, Governance and Membership Committee, Marketing and Capital Development Committee and an Awards Committee.

- Executive Committee
The Executive Committee will consist of the Board Chair, the Chairs of the other three standing Committees, and the Founder. The Executive Committee will act to transact such business as may be necessary between the regular meetings of the Advisory Board, and prepare the agenda for the Advisory Board meetings. The Executive Committee will meet at least once before general meetings or at the call of the Board Chair for special purpose(s). - Governance and Membership Committee
This Committee will encourage and solicit nominations from the general membership regarding new members for the Advisory Board. The Committee will maintain and recommend updates to the By-Laws as needed for review and approval by the entire Advisory Board. The Governance and Membership Committee will consist of at least three Board members, and will include the past Chair of the Board, who will serve as the Chair of the Committee. The Founder will serve as an Ex-officio on the Governance and Membership Committee. - Marketing and Capital Development Committee
This Committee will review and suggest areas for HAF improvement with regards to marketing of The HAF programs. This committee will also play a key role in support of development and fund-raising efforts. The Marketing & Capital Development Committee will consist of at least three Board members. The Chair of the Committee will be the Chair-Elect and is a member of the Executive Committee. - Awards Committee
This Committee will participate in the selection of faculty, student and alumni awards to recognize members of the HAF “family” who have distinguished themselves by their performance or service to the SHSS. The committee will consist of at least three Board members and will be chaired by a member who is interested and capable of advancing to the Advisory Board chair. The Founder and the executive committee will nominate the Chair of the Awards committee. The full Board will vote to approve the nomination. - Additional Committees
The Executive Committee may appoint ad hoc committees to address specific initiatives as needed. Committee members will be selected from the Board membership.

VIII. REVISION OF BY-LAWS
All By-Law revisions shall be sent to all members of the Board at least three weeks prior to a meeting. Approval of revisions shall be based on majority vote of all members present at the meeting.
